ROADWORTHY INSPECTION
The Roadworthy Inspection is a check of the vehicle to ensure that key components have not worn or deteriorated and that the vehicle is safe for normal road use.
The full explanation is contained VSI26 which can be accessed on the VicRoads Website or contact a Licensed Vehicle Tester.
A Roadworthy Inspection mainly covers safety related items and is not a check of the overall mechanical reliability or general condition of the vehicle. The RACV, many LMCT’s and other workshops can inspect the vehicles general condition.
For peace of mind, it’s recommended to have a full mechanical inspection done, especially before buying or selling a used vehicle.
A valid Roadworthy Certificate is often required when transferring ownership or re-registering a vehicle.
